Our client is a global, innovative software development company which employs 13,000 IT professionals and serves customers in more than 40 countries around the world.

Due to continued growth and success we are seeking to recruit a Senior UNIX Administrator for our client's team in Cyprus. The role will report to the IT Group Leader in collaboration with peer groups to support project development activities on UNIX servers as per defined SLA and IT standards. The role will also be responsible for installing and maintaining UNIX servers and systems at their Cyprus office and will be responsible for providing Second Level Support (SLS).

Detailed Description

Handling day-to-day UNIX activities through mails and HD call requests.
Installation/configuration of new H/W and S/W as per the standards and project needs.
Onsite and remote support to external customers supported by Cyprus .
Reorganizing projects on different servers as per the new/ongoing requirements.
Performance monitoring and tuning servers on regular basis.
Handling backup operations and monitoring on daily basis.
Coordination between corporate and other UNIX groups for IT-UNIX standards, procedures and knowledge base.
H/W and S/W purchase in coordination with technical and purchase groups.
Creating/updating/ maintaining technical and site documents.
Updating DRP server mappings and proposing new upgrades/ purchases.
Scheduling maintenance activities in coordination with projects and vendors.
Maintenance of H/W equipments and inventory on regular basis.
Updating/ maintaining Cyprus IT portal for UNIX Services.

Education & Technical Skills

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields.
Industry certifications on UNIX OS – advantage.
Expert UNIX administration knowledge on SUN, HP and AIX OS.
Functional knowledge on enterprise SAN storages and UNIX infrastructure.
Advanced knowledge on 3rd party software’s and Gnu’s installation and license handling.
Knowledge on enterprise backup and DRP operations.
Knowledge on advanced shell scripting.
Functional knowledge on UNIX security.
Knowledge on Linux and Tru64 flavors – advantage.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in UNIX system administration.
Prior experience in Enterprise UNIX environments.
